Bringing together generations of tourism professionals on a common platform, the alumni network of the MBA Tourism programme at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, launched “I Connect 2026”, a new initiative aimed at strengthening professional networking, knowledge sharing and industry collaboration among its alumni.
The inaugural gathering, held at The Park, Indore, drew 60+ tourism professionals representing various segments of the travel and tourism industry. The event brought together alumni from different batches, creating an opportunity for senior industry leaders and younger professionals to reconnect with their alma mater and each other.
The tourism management programme at DAVV has a legacy spanning more than three decades. The first batch commenced in 1991–93 as MTA (Master of Tourism Administration). In 2002, the programme was transformed into MBA Tourism, reflecting the changing requirements of the tourism and hospitality industry and its growing professional orientation.
The name “I Connect” has special significance: “I” represents Indore and symbolises connecting alumni, professionals, experiences, and opportunities.
One of the notable participants at the gathering was Mr. Hamendra Singh Jadon, Chairman, TAAI Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, who is also an alumnus from one of the senior batches of the programme. His participation highlighted the strong industry legacy created by the institution’s tourism programme over the years.
The gathering also saw participation from prominent tourism professionals including Mr. Sundesh Nayak of Arrange My Tour, Mumbai, along with several other alumni working across travel, tourism, hospitality and allied sectors.
Speaking about the initiative, alumni members highlighted the need for a structured network that can go beyond an annual reunion and create meaningful professional opportunities. The proposed network aims to facilitate business networking, mentorship, industry knowledge exchange, career opportunities, collaborations and stronger engagement between alumni and the academic community.
With tourism professionals from different generations now spread across India and international markets, the alumni network believes that the collective strength of the community can create a valuable professional ecosystem.
I Connect 2026 therefore marks more than just an alumni reunion. It represents an attempt to reconnect a community that has been contributing to India’s tourism industry for more than three decades.
From the early MTA batches of the 1990s to the MBA Tourism graduates of today, the initiative seeks to bring together the past, present and future of tourism education at DAVV.
The launch in Indore is expected to be the beginning of a larger alumni movement, with the network looking at creating regular opportunities for its members to Connect, Collaborate and Grow.
Trav Buzz News will continue to follow the development of the I Connect alumni network and its initiatives for the tourism industry.
