The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives’ Stowaway Package
Travelers can book long-term stays for 14 or 28 nights from now until April 30, 2021
The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, the brand’s newest resort and first property in Asia, has relaunched its Stowaway package to allow guests to plan a long-term stay on the idyllic island property for 14 nights starting at $3,600 or 28 nights starting at $6,000. Available to book until April 30, 2021 for stays between now and December 22, 2021, the package also includes daily breakfast and 20 percent off food at the resort’s various dining options, from the bright and breezy dining room at KULA to the traditional Maldivian cuisine and hospitality found at GUDUGUDA.
“Despite the myriad challenges that this crisis has brought upon so many, one bright spot is the newfound flexibility certain people have regarding where they can work from. For those fortunate to be in that position, we wanted to create an accessible offer to enjoy paradise while staying productive,” said Amar Lalvani, Chief Executive Officer for Standard International. “As travel begins to return, we believe guests will be taking fewer but longer and more meaningful trips like this.”
Traditionally seen as a couple’s destination, The Standard has taken a fresh approach to its island retreat, offering relaxation, social activities and vibrant cultural experiences that welcome not only couples but groups of friends and singles looking to reset and recharge in paradise. Guests can revamp their routines in a tropical oasis and set their own schedules, whether that includes a quick swim during lunch or morning coffee served up beachside. The freshest ingredients and produce sourced both regionally and from the resort’s own island farm are showcased in a delicious array of local and global creations at the six unique onsite restaurants.
GUDUGUDA, an authentic Maldivian Restaurant, is the first of its kind in the Maldives. Featuring a traditional celebratory Maldivian cuisine cooked by chefs trained by local Maldivian “aunties” – the women who carry on the tradition of this remarkable cuisine, menus showcase locally caught, seafood-driven dishes, flavourful coconut milk curries, regional fruits and vegetables, aromatic rice dishes and freshly baked breads. For a spot of grilled grub and reggae beats on the beach, guests can swing by BBQ SHAK, where fresh seafood and meats are grilled to order over coconut shell charcoal and paired with a selection of house-made sauces.
Visitors seeking some adventure during their island getaway can choose from a selection of curated experiences and cultural programmes, including indigenous basket weaving, private sunset boat trips to uninhabited islands and undiscovered reefs, as well as day and night fishing and private destination dining. The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives also has some of the most experienced guides for snorkeling and diving excursions through the resort’s protected house reef and local waters. Travelers can return home with unforgettable memories after calmly floating under the expansive night sky with the resort’s Starlight Snorkel, or swimming next to the area’s majestic turtles on the Turtle Expedition.
The Stowaway package is perfect for families hoping for a change of scenery and a way to enhance their kids’ remote learning. Kids of all ages can learn about the storied Maldivian culture and the property’s natural surroundings with numerous activities through the resort’s Lil’ Sharks Kids Club, from spotting baby sharks of various species around the scenic island to learning Dhivehi, the local language, with fun games. Other engaging activities include stargazing, where kids will be given a star map to learn to identify the different stars and constellations then draw a map of their own, playing the traditional folk game Maldivian Mancala, making replicas of special Maldivian houses with dough, and Aquaculture and Crafts with coloring sheets, stickers and more to learn about the vibrant aquatic life that defines the Maldives.
The property also has a full-service spa that offers the ultimate relaxation and a welcome respite after a day of exploration. The indoor hydrotherapy playground boasts sweeping ocean views, do-it-yourself services such as the Mud Experience, and a cypress aroma steam room and contrast plunge shower to complete the experience.
