TRAV BUZZ NEWS, INDIA, 13 Oct 2020
Post announcement by Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, on LTC cash Voucher and Festive Advance Scheme, Travel Industry has strongly reacted to the same. The largest body of the travel industry, TAAI-Travel Agents Association of India has raised questions asking for better utilization of LTC funds. The decision of the Government is somehow ignoring the Travel sector again. Where the whole industry is on standstill since Feb 2020, millions of people are jobless and there is no silver lining yet. LTC could have contributed to some sort of recovery for the sector, but with such an announcement, that hope is also gone.
TAAI President, Jyoti Mayal Commented
“The Finance Minister in her stimulus speech today has announced that government officials can use their LTC funds to buy consumer goods for the festive season. The Tourism industry instead of being bailed out is now deprived of the LTC fund. Our Industry is dying & our employees are losing jobs in every avenue but our own Prime Minister has forgotten our existence, the backbone of India. This LTC funds should have been utilized in ‘Dekho Apna Desh’the Prime Minister Vision would have been achieved Countries are getting second bailouts we haven’t even got one.”
